Treviso Airport to Venice is one bus ride. ATVO's airport express, route 351, leaves from outside the terminal and reaches Mestre railway station in about 30 minutes and Piazzale Roma, the bus terminal at the edge of Venice, in about 40. The buses are timed around the flights: ATVO says departures move when a flight lands early or late, and a run is cancelled if its flight is. The airport is about 25 km from Piazzale Roma as the crow flies. From Piazzale Roma, a vaporetto (€9.50 for 75 minutes) takes you down the Grand Canal to Rialto or St Mark's Square, or you walk. The rail option is slower to arrange: a local bus to Treviso Centrale station, then a direct train to Venezia Santa Lucia. If you are still choosing how to get to Venice, Marco Polo Airport is closer, with a boat straight into the city, and arriving by train puts you on the Grand Canal at Santa Lucia station.
Step by step
- 1
Buy an ATVO ticket in baggage claim, in arrivals or online
ATVO has a ticket machine in the baggage claim area and a ticket office in the arrivals hall. You can also buy online or in the myATVO app and go straight to the stop. The fare is published on atvo.it.
- 2
Walk to the bus stop over the footbridge
From baggage claim, go through the sliding doors into the arrivals hall and straight ahead. Take the pedestrian bridge (lift on the right, stairs on the left) and follow the marked path to the bus stop.
- 3
Ride route 351 to Mestre or Piazzale Roma
The bus stops once, at Mestre railway station, about 30 minutes out, then ends at Piazzale Roma in Venice about 40 minutes after leaving the airport. Stay on to the end for the historic city.
- 4
At Piazzale Roma, take a vaporetto or walk
Vaporetto line 1 runs down the Grand Canal, every landing, about 40 minutes from the station stop to San Marco Vallaresso. Line 2 is quicker, about 30 minutes to San Marco Giardinetti. A 75-minute ticket is €9.50 and a 24-hour pass €25. Hotels on the Santa Croce side of the canal are a short walk.
Tips
- Keep your flight number handy: ATVO times the Treviso departures to arrivals, and a cancelled flight means a cancelled bus.
- The timetable valid from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027 changes around Christmas, with altered runs on 25 December. Check the PDF on atvo.it for your date.
- Staying in Mestre? Get off at the railway station stop, 30 minutes from the airport, and take the train or bus into Venice later.
- Overnight guests pay the hotel tourist tax and are exempt from Venice's day-tripper access fee; day visitors should check whether it applies on their date.
- Once you have dropped your bags, a gondola ride costs €90 for 30 minutes by day, per gondola, set by the city.
